A court hearing on the extradition of Mourad Hamyd, a French terrorist suspect, was held in Sofia, capital of Bulgaria, on Wednesday.

The court denied Hamyd's request for a closed-door hearing, Xinhua quoted local media as saying.

If the Bulgarian court decides to hand him to the French authorities, Hamyd, brother-in-law of Cherif Kouachi, one of the perpetrators of the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris last year, will be sued in France over the crimes listed in the European arrest warrant.

Hamyd entered Bulgaria by train on July 26. He left from France and passed through Serbia. On July 18, Hamyd tried to enter into Turkey but was denied, because he was banned from entering its territory for five years.

On August 2, Sofia City Court put him under arrest according to the European arrest warrant.
