Around 9,590 people in China die from cardiovascular disease each day - or one every 10 seconds, a report said Friday.
China has 290 million patients with cardiovascular disease, said the report by the National Center for Cardiovascular China.
There were 230 million such patients in 2010, Xinhua reported.
The report said the increase was due to poor eating habits, smoking, drinking alcohol and lack of exercise.
The cost of treating heart attacks, brain haemorrhages and strokes has seen an annual increase of 25 percent since 2004, reaching 46 billion yuan (around $7.5 billion) in 2011.
