Haryana and Punjab continued to reel under severe heatwave conditions on Thursday with temperatures recorded in the 42-46 degrees Celsius mark at several places.
Hisar town in Haryana sizzled at 45.6, making it the hottest place in the region, Bhiwani (43.4 degrees), Karnal (42) and Ambala (42.6) also experienced the heat wave.Chandigarh recorded a high of 41.8 degrees, a little less than the 43 degrees recorded on Tuesday.
The maximum temperatures were two to five degrees above average, Met department officials said here.
Amritsar city in Punjab recorded a high of 41.8 degrees, while Ludhiana and Patiala cities were hotter with highs of 42.6 and 43.1 degrees, respectively.
The Met officials said heat wave conditions would prevail over the region in the coming days and the weather would remain dry. Thunderstorms are predicted at a couple of places.
