Thundershowers inundated several pockets in the city on Thursday, throwing normal life out of gear with the Met office warning of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal over the next day.

"Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm ) alongwith moderate thunderstorm and lightning very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of East Midnapore, North & South 24 Parganas, Kolkata in the next 24 hours," said a bulletin from the regional meteorological centre here.

The 24-hour rainfall measure for Kolkata stood at 0.4 mm at 8.30 am on Thursday.

Stretches in Alipore, Behala, Camac Street and Park Circus were water-logged leading to traffic snarls.
