Heavy rains have swollen rivers in eastern Slovenia, causing extensive flooding in some flood-prone areas in the country, a media report said Saturday.
Flooding has hit large swathes of eastern and south-central part of the country, in particular the watersheds of the Krka river and the Sava, the longest river in Slovenia, Xinhua reported citing Slovenian Television.
At least one person was killed and another one was reported missing when their car plunged into a stream due to the collapse of river banks near Vransko, some 50 km north-east of the capital Ljubljana.
In addition, hundreds of buildings have been flooded, in particular in Dolenjsko region, along the Krka. Dozens of country roads have also closed due to flooding and landslides.
