Heavy rains and flooding have claimed seven lives and destroyed several houses in Afghanistan's northern Samangan and Baghlan provinces.
Two women and four children were among the dead in torrential rains and flooding outside Samangan provincial capital Aybak on Monday, a police official was cited as saying by Xinhua news agency.
Over 100 acres farmlands were washed away while 70 houses were badly damaged or destroyed.
The Natural Disaster Management Authority said heavy rains and flooding killed 34 people elsewhere in the country over the past one week.
