Heavy rains likely in Himachal

The hills of Himachal Pradesh may see heavy rainfall in the next three days, a weather official said here Tuesday after moderate spells of rain across the state brought down temperatures.

"Heavy rain and thundershowers would occur at isolated places over mid and low hills of the state during the next 72 hours," an official of the meteorological office told IANS.

He said most of the prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Kalpa, Kasauli, Dharamsala, Palampur and Manali saw good spells of rain Tuesday and would continue to experience more rain.

Shimla, popular among the tourists as Queen of Hills, saw mild spells of rain throughout the day. It recorded a high of 25.5 degrees Celsius, down from Monday's 26.2 degrees Celsius.

 

Likewise, Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw the maximum temperature at 22.4 degrees Celsius.

Dharamsala, which recorded over 70 mm rain, saw a high of 25.2 degrees Celsius, while the high was 36.6 degrees Celsius in Una town.

Jogindernagar town in Mandi district recorded the highest rainfall of over 90 mm in the state.
