Veteran actress Helen Mirren has urged people to back a military support charity after a soldier was brutally murdered on London streets.

A 25-year-old Army Drummer named Lee Rigby was killed in Woolwich, south east London Wednesday.

When he breathed his last, Rigby was wearing a t-shirt promoting Help For Heroes, a charity for troops injured in conflicts. Now "The Queen" star is urging fans to stand in support of the organisation.

She herself donned a Help For Heroes shirt for a photocall for the purpose, reports dailystar.co.uk.

"The young man who died... was showing where his heart lay by wearing his Help For Heroes top. It was monstrous that he should be killed for that. I think Help For Heroes is a fantastic organisation - it is a charity that does amazing work. This attack won't stop that and hopefully Help For Heroes will just get stronger," Mirren told The Sun.
