Two people were arrested and two kg heroin valued Rs.10 crore in the international market was recovered from them in Punjab, police said Sunday.

Deputy Singh and Gursahib Singh, both from Tarn Taran district, were arrested in Faridkot district, 270 km from Chandigarh. Gursahib Singh was arrested Sunday while Deputy Singh was nabbed the day before, police said.

"The accused were arrested while attempting to deliver the heroin to contacts in the district," Faridkot district police chief Girmeet Singh Randhawa said.

He said questioning of the two suspects revealed the heroin was of Pakistani origin and they were in contact with Pakistani smugglers using a cellphone SIM card from that country.

"Their village, Wan Tara Singh, is located close to the international border and the contraband was delivered to them by throwing it over the border fence," Randhawa said.
