A display of mega science and technology showcasing the country's cutting-edge technologies, leading scientific products and services and path-breaking research and development initiatives are part of the Pride of India Expo which was inaugurated here Saturday.
Inaugurating the expo, Union Minister for Science and Technology Harsh Vardhan said it was a matter of pride for the organisers to push forward their vision as well as innovative ideas through their exhibits.
The expo, which coincides with the five-day 102nd Indian Science Congress inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier Saturday, would provide an opportunity to visitors to understand the vision and viability of exhibits for future use, Harsh Vardhan said.
The major attractions at the expo are Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) putting up defence-related technologies, Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) actual scale-models of rockets and satellite transponders, Mangalyan models, etc.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Department of Earth Sciences, Indian Council of Medical Research, Oil & Natural Gas Commission and the central government are highlighting the 'Make In India' initiative of the Modi government at the expo.
Leading Indian public and private sector departments, government departments, research labs, universities and educational institutions and other organisations are among the 250 participants in the expo which will open to the public Sunday.
