Hockey India (HI) Sunday inducted Hockey Hyderabad as an associate member.
HI now has 15 associate, 28 affiliated and two state Olympic association members. With the inclusion, Hyderabad can take part in all the National Championships to be conducted by HI in future.
HI secretary general Narinder Batra said: "The entry of Hockey Hyderabad would play a major role in promoting and developing hockey in its traditional fashion and would give an opportunity for young talent to showcase their skills. We are hopeful that three times Olympian N. Mukesh Kumar, who is the secretary of Hockey Hyderabad, and its other members, who are former international players, can help in the growth at the grassroot level. HI will give its full support to them."
Jayesh Ranjan (IAS) has been named president of the association.
