The Odisha Police has sounded high alert across the state in view of Indian Army's surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), said a senior police official on Friday.

Director General of Police K.B. Singh said adequate security personnel have been deployed at strategic locations, while strict vigil has been maintained at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, Puri temple and defence establishments in the state.

The security of railway stations, bus stands, hotels and major reservoirs has also been enhanced, he added.

Police Commissioner Y.B. Khurania said they have enhanced security measures in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

The state government's move came after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh called up Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday and briefed him about Army's action.

Patnaik hailed the army. "We salute the #IndianArmy for bravery & precision of #SurgicalStrike on terror launch pads; reiterate support for fight against terrorism," he tweeted.
