Power supply to several areas of Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana was affected Sunday evening after high velocity winds hit the region.

The wind storm lasted for nearly 30 minutes, with wind speed ranging from 70 to 100 km per hour.

Scores of trees were uprooted in various parts of Chandigarh, a city that has a lot of green cover.

The uprooted trees and broken branches led to electricity wires getting snapped and power supply was affected.

Traffic flow was also affected in many parts of Chandigarh as the uprooted trees and broken branches fell on the roads.

In Punjab, power supply was affected in many cities, towns and villages.

Power supply was also affected in Panchkula town in Haryana and other parts of the state.
