Himachal announces cash awards for kabaddi players

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Saturday announced a cash prize of Rs.20 lakh each for Kavita Thakur, Pooja Thakur and Ajay Thakur, who hail from state, for winning the men's and women's kabaddi golds at the Incheon Asian Games.

He also announced a cash prize of Rs.10 lakh to Vijay Kumar, who also belongs to the state and won silver in shooting, an official statement said.

The chief minister said the state government was keen to develop sports infrastructure in the state. Fifty playgrounds are being constructed at an outlay of Rs.50 lakh.
