Himachal court concerned over unscientific dumping of industrial waste

The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Wednesday took serious note of collection of solid waste and its dumping in an unscientific manner by the Municipal Council of Baddi and the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority.

It directed them to submit a compliance report within four weeks.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel passed these orders on a petition filed by Suleman.

The court passed these orders after perusing a report submitted by a Senior Environmental Engineer of the state Pollution Control Board.

The bench observed prima facie it seemed the municipal council and the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Aurhority have failed to perform duties regarding collection of solid waste and its dumping in a scientific manner.

 

The judges directed the Deputy Commissioner of Solan to ensure the compliance of the directions issued by it and listed the matter for next hearing on November 29.
