Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the fruit farmers of Himachal Pradesh will benefit by selling fruits to beverage companies like Coca Cola and Pepsi.

"Those who sell Pepsi and Coca Cola, we urged them if they could add five per cent of fruit juice in their products (beverage items)," said Modi, addressing a Parivartan rally.

"I am happy to say that a few days back Coca Cola signed an agreement with the orange farmers of Nagpur. Owing to this, the orange farmers of Nagpur will immediately get market. They (Coca Cola) will mix five percent of orange juice in their products," the prime minister said.

He also said that under the 15th finance commission, Himachal Pradesh has been allocated Rs 72,000 crore for the development of the state.

"Earlier the allocation was Rs 21,000 crore. When we came to power the allocation went up to Rs 72,000 crore," said Modi.
