Himachal's natural beauty needs to be protected: Governor

Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat on Sunday said the hill state's immense natural beauty should be protected and preserved at all costs.

He said living in close proximity of nature ensured good health.

The governor was speaking at a function held to unveil the statue of Swami Vivekananda by the Vivekananda Medical Research Trust at its hospital complex in Palampur in Kangra district.

Devvrat said Swami Vivekananda, a great philosopher and thinker, propagated the rich Indian culture, traditions and values across the world and is a source of inspiration for the country's people.

Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs V.K. Singh said every citizen of the country should work for the welfare of society and serve the humanity selflessly.

 

Member of Parliament Shanta Kumar, who is the trust chairman, said it was providing free medical facilities to the poor at the hospital.
