Himachal Pradesh MP Pratibha Singh Saturday called on Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat here and sought timely release of over Rs.62 crore due to the state for an irrigation project.
She apprised the minister that the Planning Commission had agreed to provide a one-time grant of Rs.62.42 crore to the state towards the payment due from Punjab for the Shah Nehar irrigation project.
"A case for release of this amount (Rs.62.42 crore) has been processed by the Central Water Commission and forwarded it to the ministry of water resources," an official statement quoting the Lok Sabha member said.
Pratibha Singh, wife of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, also sought sanction of 44 projects to the state, which will cover 8,562.43 hectares under the minor irrigation schemes of the central government.
The state, she said, has submitted these projects worth Rs.8,300 lakh for inclusion under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) for 2013-14 and 2014-15.
