Hisar, Amritsar burn at 47 degrees

Haryana's Hisar town Monday sizzled at 47.1 degrees Celsius while the Sikh holy city of Amritsar in Punjab recorded the season's high of 47 degrees as heat wave conditions intensified over most parts of the two states.

Met officials said the dry and heat wave conditions would continue in the next 2-3 days. Thundershowers and squalls could hit some places in both states.

In Punjab, Ludhiana had a high of 46.4 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 44 degrees Celsius, five degrees above average.
