A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) miltant involved in civilian killings and attacks on security forces was arrested in Anantnag district of Kashmir on Saturday, police said.
"Police have solved two cases of civilian killings by arresting a HM militant Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar alias Hafiz," a senior police officer told IANS in Srinagar.
Acting on specific information, Anantnag police and the 1st Rashtriya Rifles arrested Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Khaliq, a resident of Pahnou, Shopian from Qazigund, Anantnag, the officer said.
"During the investigation, it came to the fore that he, along with two other militants, was involved in the killing of Javaid Ahmad Sofi of Bijbehara and Reyaz Ahmad Khan of Karawa Malnoo, Shopian.
Javaid was killed by the militants on March 22 in New Colony, Bijbehara while Riyaz Ahmad Khan was killed on October 25 last year.
"Dar was also involved in an attack on guard post at Court Complex in Shopian district in which a policeman was injured. He was also involved in a firing incident in Awantipora," the police officer said.

Dar had joined HM in September 2014.
"His role in recent grenade attacks in the district is being ascertained. He is also involved in firing on joint security forces party," the officer added.
