Panic gripped the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here Tuesday when a threat call was received at a Spicejet counter, police said, adding the call turned out to be a hoax.

The call was received in the evening saying that IGIA faces a threat as a bomb might be placed there, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer told IANS.

"The security officials deployed at the airport were alerted and they conducted a check with the help of dog and bomb squads," the officer said.

CISF looks after the inside security at the airport.

Delhi Police have launched a hunt for the hoax caller.
