Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal Wednesday sought fresh election in Delhi.

Kejriwal said: "We have decided that we will prepare for the elections (in Delhi). We will go among the people."

The announcement comes just days after the Lok Sabha election got over. The AAP won four parliamentary seats in Punjab and did not win any Lok Sabha seat in Delhi, where the party had made a stunning debut in last year's assembly election.

A meeting of the AAP legislators was held here at Kejriwal's residence.

Kejriwal, who served as Delhi's chief minister for 49 days and quit Feb 14, said: "In the next 7-10 days, we will hold a number of meetings in Delhi...We will apologise to the people of Delhi and (seek) complete mandate so that we can form a government for five years."

The AAP won 28 of the 70-member Delhi assembly.
