Homage paid to Rajiv Gandhi in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah Wednesday paid floral tribute to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 23rd death anniversary.

He also administered an anti-terrorism pledge to officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan here.

Anti-terrorism Day is observed May 21, the day on which former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated.

Pilot-turned-politician Rajiv Gandhi was killed May 21, 1991 at an election rally in Sriperumbudur when a young Tamil Tiger woman guerrilla, strapped with explosives, blew herself up near him.

Congressmen in Tamil Nadu paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi at the party's state headquarters here.
