Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami arrived here Friday on a four day visit to Jammu and Kashmir during which he is scheduled to take a detailed review of the security situation in the state.
Goswami is scheduled to hold a meeting with senior state, paramilitary and intelligence officers in Jammu. Sources said the home secretary would also call on Governor N.N. Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during his stay.
He is also likely to receive a briefing about the situation on the line of control (LoC) and the international border in the state.
After a lull of 50 days, Pakistan again violated the bilateral ceasefire in Hira Nagar sector of the international border in Samba district Thursday injuring a sub-inspector of the Border Security Force (BSF).
On Friday itself, Pakistani soldiers fired without any provocation at an Indian army post in Akhnoor sector of the LoC in Jammu district triggering an exchange of gunfire between the two sides that lasted for nearly 25 minutes.
