Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Tuesday inaugurated its third plant in India in Narsapura, Karnataka, at an investment of Rs.1,350 crore.

With production starting from June this year, Honda said, the new plant will enable the company to increase its cumulative annual production capacity by 64 percent in the current fiscal.

The new plant is conceived to produce 12 lakh units in phase-I and additional six lakh units in phase-II.

"Expanded production capacity will be further supported by aggressive growth in network to 2,500 outlets and rapid new product introduction as we aim for market leadership," said Keita Muramatsu, president and chief executive, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India.

The company plans to start mass production of its entry-level motorcycle Dream Yuga in this plant next month. This will be followed by manufacturing of Activa scooter on the second line.

Currently, the company has two operational plants in Manesar, Haryana, and Tapukara, Rajasthan.
