Motorbike sales of two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India dipped by over 9.5 percent during May this year but an increased sales of scooters helped it secure a three percent overall growth during the month.
In May 2015, the company sold 367,226 units of two-wheelers against 355,530 units in the corresponding month in 2014.
Scooter sales increased by 13.7 percent at 215,300 units in the month compared to the sale of 189,422 units during May 2014.
The company said its overall market share has increased by one percent. It claimed to have a domestic market share of 26 percent and an overall market share inclusive of exports at 23 percent.
The overall two-wheeler industry during the month has shrunk by two percent in May, the company said.
Its exports increased by three percent in the month under review at 13,786 units compared to 13,394 units shipped in May 2014.
The motorbike and scooter maker is aiming to sell 47 lakh units during 2015-16.
