It was a hot morning in the capital Monday with the minimum temperature settling three notches above average at 30.3 degrees Celsius. However, the weather office has forecast some respite with possibility of rain towards evening.
"The skies will become partly cloudy as the day progresses. There could be rain and thundery developments towards evening and night in some parts of the city," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
"The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius," the official added.
Humidity recorded at 8.30 a.m. was 48 percent.
Sunday's maximum and minimum temperature settled two notches above average at 39.6 and 29.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
The monsoon arrived in Delhi last Sunday, a fortnight ahead of schedule, but the national capital has not received any rain since then due to the "weak phase of monsoon", added the IMD official.
