Delhi Monday saw the hottest Aug 25 in the past six years with the maximum temperature recorded five notches above the season's average at 39.1 degrees Celsius. Similar weather conditions are expected Tuesday.
"It was only 2009 when the temperature on Aug 25 crossed 37 degrees," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.
The minimum temperature Monday was 27.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while humidity rose to a high of 70 percent.
Tuesday is expected to be no better.
"The sky will be mainly clear on Tuesday and the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 39 and 28 degrees Celsius respectively," the official added.
