Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday pledged to donate a month's salary towards the relief efforts in flood-ravaged Kerala and urged ministry and university employees also to contribute at least a day's salary.
"There has been unprecedented devastation in Kerala due to floods. I have donated one month's salary to PM's National Relief Fund. I appeal to all employees of HRD Ministry, university/ college teachers and employees to donate at least a day's salary for relief and rehabilitation work," he said in a tweet.
The worst floods to hit Kerala since 1924 have claimed around 370 lives since monsoon rains began on May 29 and displaced hundreds of thousands this month.
