Huma Qureshi unveils 'green' sari line

Actress Huma Qureshi has unveiled textile innovator DuPont's renewably sourced fibre Sorona along with a collection of saris made of it.

The textile brand, in collaboration with Vipul Fashions and Reliance Industries, introduced its first ever premium 'green; saree collection offering the traditional Indian women not only environmental benefits, but different variations in colour, quality and fashion style.

Considering her association with the brand, the 28-year-old actress told IANS: "Indian women look very beautiful in our traditional look. Being an Indian woman, it's a perfect synergy to be associated with such a brand. It's also my social responsibility to promote our tradition and culture and tell people what is the Indian style rather than running after western outfits."

 

The launch of the fibre here Fridnay witnessed a glimpse of the sari collection made from it. Huma walked the ramp donning a red sari.

Made from renewable plant-based sources, Sorona fabric is touted to be light weight, soft and saris made from it are designed keeping in mind customer's comfort zone.

"Being the wedding season, it's the perfect time to introduce Sorona into the Indian market. We are the leading fabric creator and with innovations like rayon, nylon and lycra, we have always produced and sell out unique products. Now it's our privilege to introduce Sorona, a fibre developed from eco-friendly materials yet aimed at providing all luxury to Indian women," said Balvinder Singh Kalsi, president - South Asia and ASEAN, DuPont.

Commenting upon its collaboration with the brand, Anil Agarwal, managing director, Vipul Fashion, said: "We have made the saris keeping in mind every class. Our product is not very costly and is made for women who are looking for luxurious softness like silk."
