Humid day in Delhi, rains expected Friday

It was a cloudy, humid day in the capital Thursday with the maximum temperature settling at 34.1 degrees Celsius - average for this time of the season. The Met Office has forecast light showers in the city Friday.

"The city will witness an overcast sky Friday with light rains expected in some parts during the day," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 32 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The minimum temperature Thursday settled a notch above average at 27.2 degrees Celsius. The maximum humidity stood at 91 percent.

 

According to IMD, the city recorded a total rainfall of 217.4 mm, 20 percent above average, since the arrival of the monsoon June 16 - a fortnight ahead of schedule.

Wednesday's maximum temperature settled a notch above season's average at 34.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was normal at 26.7 degrees Celsius.
