Humid Friday in Delhi after rainy start, more showers likely

A wet, pleasant morning gave way to a sunny, humid day in the capital Friday with the maximum temperature settling at 37.1 degrees Celsius -average for this time of the season. The Met office has forecast more rain Saturday.

The city woke up to overcast skies and a light drizzle Friday morning but the afternoon was sunny. It received 2.2 mm of rain from 8.30 a.m. Thursday to 8.30 a.m. Friday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the skies will be cloudy Saturday and parts of the city will receive rain.

The maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 36 and 26 degrees Celsius.

 

Friday's minimum temperature settled at 25.9 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average.

Thursday's maximum temperature settled at 37.1 degrees Celsius, average for this time of the year, while the minimum temperature settled at 28.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above average.

According to the IMD, monsoon arrived in Delhi a fortnight ahead of schedule June 16. The city has so far received a total rainfall of 115.3 mm.
