Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has received 15,770 global orders for its 'Made in India' sport utility vehicle Creta launched in July, the auto major announced on Tuesday.
The South Korean automobile manufacturer highlighted that Creta elicited overwhelming response from global markets in Latin America (Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru and Panama), Middle East (Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia) and Africa (Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria).
Available in three engine options, Creta generated 70,000 bookings and 3,40,000 enquiries in India.
"Now Creta goes global... received strong response from world markets. Our goal is to maximise our production to make 10,000 units of Creta to meet the global customers' demand while maintaining our leadership position in the domestic market," said Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president, HMIL, in a statement.
"With Creta, HMIL has strengthened its position in the SUV segment in India and demonstrated excellence of 'Made in India' products as per the global standards," the statement added.
HMIL is the second largest car manufacturer in India after Maruti Suzuki and sells 10 car models across various segments - Eon, i10, Grand i10, Elite i20, Active i20, Xcent, Verna, Creta, Elantra and Santa Fe.
