His latest directorial "Don't Breathe" has a heist at its core, but director Fede Alvarez hasn't ever even stolen a candy himself. But if he had to steal something, it would be money, he says.

The Uruguayan filmmaker -- known for helming the "Evil Dead" remake -- was asked by IANS that if he had to steal something or plan a heist, what would it be or for.

Responding via an email, Alvarez said: "Tough question. I never stole anything in my life. I have friends and cousins that did that, but kids you know, they go through the door and they steal a candy, I'd never be able to do anything remotely to that, so I wouldn't know.

"But if I want to be smart about it, I'd probably go with the money, I wouldn't take anything personal object or anything that means a lot to the family. I'd try to take insurance claimable, like then the family is not damaged and I'm basically stealing from the bank."

His film "Don't Breathe" released in India on Friday. It is a story of a group of friends break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they'll get away with the perfect heist -- but they are wrong.

Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto and Stephen Lang form the main cast of the movie.
