Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe, who is making his directorial debut with "The Water Diviner", says he wouldn't mind stealing an idea for a project from someone as long as it is "good".

"I would steal from anyone if the idea if good. But that's the life of any creative person. You can't help but be influenced. We keep looking for inspiration at various places and that's the process," Crowe said in a statement.

Asked if he has started working on another project just yet, the actor said: "I have actually started working. But I am far from speaking any of it in the press. That's a lesson I have learnt."

Crowe plays the titular role -- an Australian farmer who journeys to Turkey four years after the World War I battles at Gallipoli in search of his three missing soldier sons. Inspired by true historical events, the film was shot in Istanbul's bustling markets and in the glorious Blue Mosque.

The film, an adaptation of the book "The Water Diviner" written by Andrew Anastasios, is set to release in India on April 17.
