IAF chief visits Oman, UAE

In a bid to boost bilateral defence ties, Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha is on a four-day visit to Oman and the UAE, an official said on Monday.

Raha, who left India on Sunday, will interact with India's ambassador to Oman and Chief of the Royal Air Force of Oman (CRAFO).

This will be followed by a visit to the United Arab Emirates.

During the visit, Raha, who is also the chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, will hold talks with the military leadership and discuss a wide range of bilateral issues on enhancing defence cooperation.

 

"The commonalities and exchange of best safety practices between both the air forces will be discussed during the visit," an official statement here said.

He will also visit the Military Technical College, Seeb Air Base, Thumrait air base and Salalah air base in Oman.

The visit to the UAE would also include a Guard of Honour at Al Dhafra Air Base followed by a visit to the F-16 and Mirage-2000 squadrons.

A visit to the Missile Air Warfare Centre, transport squadron, KBZ Air College, aviation squadron and Al Minhad air base is planned thereafter.
