In a mark of homage to his late wife, an Air Force veteran on Wednesday donated Rs 17 lakh to the school where she taught for 21 years.

Wing Commander (retired) J.P. Baduni handed over the cheque to the Principal of the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute at Subroto Park. He hoped the donation would help the deserving students to excel.

Baduni's wife Vidhu Baduni worked as a primary teacher since 1986. She expired on February 6 due to a cardiac arrest.

School Principal Poonam S. Rampal said that a part of the donation, Rs 10 lakh, would be used to award scholarships and prizes to meritorious students of classes 5 to 11 every academic year.

The remaining amount would go towards infrastructure development of the school's primary wing.

The money was exclusively from his wife's savings which she had accumulated over the years from the service rendered at the school.
