Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) football team player Vedad Ibisevic has officially decided to retire from the national team.

At a press conference on Saturday, Ibisevic emotionally said that he had been thinking a lot about his decision after his team failed to book a ticket in next year's World Cup in Russia, reports Xinhua news agency.

"I decided that if we do not qualify for the World Cup in Russia, I will say goodbye to the national jersey. I have made my decision," Ibisevic told reporters.

Ibisevic, 33, currently plays as a striker for Hertha and has a contract until June 2019. In over a decade of playing for the BiH team, Ibisevic played 74 games and scored 26 goals.
