iGate Corporation sacked its chief executive officer Phaneesh Murthy on the charges of sexual abuse by a woman employee, the US-based IT major said Tuesday.

"The decision to terminate the employment of president and chief executive Phaneesh Murthy was made following an investigation into a relationship he had with a subordinate employee and a claim of sexual harassment," the company said in a statement from Fremont in California.

The 49-year-old tech wizard also resigned from Indian IT bellwether Infosys Ltd. over a decade ago on similar charges.
