IIM Trichy gets new permanent campus

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday inaugurated the permanent campus of Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu.

Inaugurating the campus through video conferencing, he underscored the Narendra Modi government's commitment in fulfilling the country's quest for continuous improvement in the quality of education, and said it will continue expanding educational institutes in the country.

"This government so far has set up seven new IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management), six new IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and a new IIIT (Indian Institute of Information Technology).

"We have also opened a new central university, 104 Kendriya Vidyalays and 62 new Navodaya Vidyalayas. The effort is expansion of quality of education. Our committment is to fulfill the country's quest for quality of education and its continuous improvement," he added.

 

Eleventh of the country's 20 premier management institutes, IIM Trichy was launched in June 2011 and has been functioning in a temporary campus located inside National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NITT) Campus, Tiruchirappalli.

The sprawling new campus is spread over 170 acres of land on Trichy-Pudukottai highway.
