IIT-Kgp ties-up with 3 Israel varsities

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur has inked agreements with three universities in Israel for student exchanges, faculty visits and research collaborations in aerospace, agriculture and computer science, a statement said on Friday.

IIT-Kgp director P.P. Chakrabarti led the academic delegation from India during President Pranab Mukherjee's recent visit to the country when memorandum of understanding (MOUs) were signed with the Ben-Gurion University (BGU), Hebrew University and University of Haifa.

These Israeli universities are traditionally strong in the areas of computer science, aerospace, agriculture and food engineering etc. which are in synergy with the areas of academics and research at IIT Kgp, said Chakrabarti in the statement.

 

"We are planning some unique student exchanges, faculty visits and research workshops and projects," he said.

The current scope of cooperation with these universities range from exchange programmes for faculty, students and scholars, joint research and exchange of research materials, joint academic activities - teaching and supervision of students, joint conferences, workshops, participation of students in study-abroad programmes.

IIT-Kgp already has a tie-up with Technion Israel Institute of Technology which is the oldest university in Israel.
