Illegal casino unearthed, 25 held for gambling in Delhi

A casino running illegally in south Delhi has been unearthed and 25 persons arrested for gambling and betting, police said on Sunday.

Two police teams raided the house of Anupama Jain, who claimed to be a former model and event manager with a company, in upscale Pamposh Enclave in Greater Kailash-1 late on Saturday night and arrested 25 persons, including some businessmen, on gambling charges.

The arrested accused are residents of Janakpuri, Pitampura, Munirka and Greater Kailash areas of west and south Delhi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya said.

Jain was running the illegal activities at her house for the last 25 days and kept the group members informed about the illegal activities through Whatsapp, Baaniya said.

 

Over Rs 7 lakh in cash, playing cards, 2,700 plastic tokens and chips, a poker table, a currency-counting machine and 25 mobile phones were seized, the officer added.
