Include Hindi as official languages in UN: India

Hindi should be included as an official language in the United Nations by garnering support from member nations, as was done for the International Yoga Day, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said here on Saturday.

Speaking at the 10th Vishwa Hindi Sammelan (World Hindi Conference) here, he said Hindi was one of the most spoken languages in the world.

Technological-based companies have understood its significance and were thus promoting it, the minister said.

Besides, the minister said Hindi was not just an administrative language but also a link language and a language that represented Indian culture and values of life.
