Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart David Cameron on Thursday decided that the two countries will collaborate in automotive research and development (R&D) and testing.

The two prime ministers expressed their wish to promote innovation led growth in the automotive sector in India, a joint statement said.

According to the statement, India and Britain will sign a MoU to share their expertise in automotive research and development (R&D), testing and administration of testing systems.

Modi in his address to the British parliament on Thursday made it a point to mention Indian conglomerate Tatas becoming the largest private sector employer in Britain.

"It takes an Indian icon, Tata, to run a British icon and become your nation's largest private sector employer," Modi said.
