Automobile major Maruti Suzuki Thursday said the country has the potential of becoming the largest car manufacturer in the world.
The company's view coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new campaign 'Make in India.'
"We are fully confident that, under the Make in India programme of the Prime Minister, factors that adversely affect the competitiveness of manufacturing will now be removed quickly," said Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director and chief executive, Maruti Suzuki.
The company added that it was one of the first multi-national companies to setup manufacturing operation in India way back in 1983.
"Osamu Suzuki, chairman, Suzuki Motor Corporation, recognised the potential of India, both as a market and as a country where high quality manufacturing was possible."
