BJP leader Tarun Vijay Sunday said India and China must improve their trust levels to have a sincere handshake.
"We must extend a warm welcome to premier Li who has chosen India as his first destination after assuming the charge of prime minister. Such a visit will go a long way to remove doubts and restore trust," Vijay told reporters as Chinese premier Li Keqiang arrived in India Sunday.
"Trust levels between the two countries must be improved for a sincere and long lasting handshake," he said.
Vijay is a BJP member of the Rajya Sabha and is a member of a parliamentary committee on external affairs.
"Premier Li's visit must be a path-breaking initiative addressing issues of enhancing bilateral cooperation and friendly ties, including more youth exchanges between India and China, resolving the border issue, China's military help to Pakistan and correcting the trade imbalance between India and China," he said.
Li is visiting India at the invitation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. From India, Li will go to Pakistan, Switzerland and Germany.
