India once again proved to be a juggernaut in the Asian Youth Chess Championships that ended in Suwon, South Korea on Monday.
The Indians pocketed five gold medals, five silver medals and five bronze medals, while second placed Iran bagged six medals.
In the segment of Girls Under-16 category, Aakanksha Hagawane claimed the prized yellow metal while Chandreyee Hazra had to settle for the silver. Harshita Guddanti won a bronze medal.
"I am glad to inform you that a student of Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy, Chandreyee Hazra has won silver medal in the Asian Girls Under-16 Chess Championship," said an academy release.
Aakanksha scored seven, while Chandreye collected 6.5 points out of a possible nine points and gained 118 ratings.
There were 22 players from 16 countries in this age category.
