Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Friday met Japans Vice Minister for Policy Coordination Shigeki Habuka and appreciated Japan's technical expertise and experience in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Disaster Management.

"India would like to gain from Japan's leadership in the field," Rijiju said.

According to a communique from the Home Ministry, Habuka invited India's participation in the two DRR-related conferences being held in Japan during December 19-20, 2016 and on January 24, 2017.

"Rijiju assured that India will be appropriately represented, even at the ministerial level, if required," said the communique.

Underlining India's special relationship with Japan, Rijiju said India has given Visa-on-Arrival facility to the Japanese nationals.
