The Indian government on Thursday reviewed the situation along the India-Myanmar border after Tuesday's army operation left several militants dead, official sources said.

A high-level meeting "reviewed the situation along the (India-Myanmar) border", home ministry sources told IANS.

In view of intelligence reports that the militants might attack Indian forces again, the government reviewed the situation, the sources added.

"Both offensive and defensive measures were discussed during the meeting attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and ministry officials," a source said.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked his ministerial colleague Jitendra Singh to go to Myanmar to take stock of the situation there.

Meanwhile, the government asked ministers and officials not to boast in public about the Indian Army's surgical strike in Myanmar that inflicted apparently heavy casualties on the militants.

The army on Tuesday carried out the strike against insurgents believed to be responsible for the ambush on soldiers in Manipur on June 4. The militant ambush left 18 soldiers dead.
