India's Chain Singh takes bronze in 50m rifle 3 positions

Chain Singh gave India their ninth medal from the shooting range as he finished third in the 50 metre rifle 3 positions event of the 17th Asian Games here Saturday.

Chain scored 441.7 at the Ongnyeon International Shooting Range to take home the bronze as China claimed the top two places with Cao Yifei and Zhu Qinan, who won gold and silver respectively.

The 25-year-old Chain, who was the only Indian in the final after finishing seventh in the qualification, scored 150.7 in kneeling, 154.1 in prone and 96.2 in the two compulsory standing elimination round.

In four rounds of standing elimination, he got 40.4 to finish behind Yifei and Qinan.

 

Yifei scored 455.5 while Qinan got 455.2.

Other Indians in the fray, Sanjeev Rajput and Gagan Narang failed to qualify for the final as they finished 12th and 14th in the qualification round.

Earlier, the Indian trio missed out on the bronze medal as they finished fourth in the team event with a score of 3480-135x.

With Chain Singh's bronze, India now have 20 medals (two gold, two silver and 16 bronze).
